2016 Executive Team
Remi Roehrs Artistic Director
Remi is a current Art History and Entertainment Industries student who has actively collaborated on, toured and managed theatrical works since 2014. She is interested in the interaction of theatre, performance art, visual art and design, and how these fields can be curated in different contexts. Remi aspires join these areas to curate experiential art events and exhibitions of live art that appeal to a young generation. Remi is a member of The Suicide Ensemble and has collaborated and performed in productions of ‘The Reality Event’ at Vene Cava Production’s Fresh Blood Festival (2014), Anywhere Theatre Festival (2015) and Melbourne Fringe (2015), as well as writing, dramaturging, stage-managing and production-managing for various other productions. As a contemporary art theory nerd, she is passionate about creating opportunities for artists that interrogate contemporary practice and the contexts of young emerging artists as well as creating environments that encourage and provoke experimentation and daring new work.
Finley Kube General Manager / Development
Finley is an aspiring theatre practitioner and arts manager currently in his final year of Queensland University of Technology's Bachelor of Fine Arts: Drama. Working closely with student theatre companies and bodies, Finley is a company member and creative with The Suicide Ensemble and Terra Nemo Theatre Company. This year he plans to further his creative practices focusing on creating theatre with a socially activating context, and interrogating the divisions of form within art practices.
Tamika McDonald Head Of Productions
Tamika McDonald is currently studying a Bachelor Of Fine Arts (Drama) and is an inspiring stage manager and collaborative artist. She is passionate about technical production and wishes to study further into this field. This year, Tamika would like to use her final year at uni to fine tune her artistic identity.
Cinnamon Smith The Marketing Manager
Cinnamon is a performance maker, actor, rap artist, icon and marketing dream boat. Having recently completed a dual degree in drama and design she is polishing her studies off with a grad certificate in marketing. Cause why not. I guess she just realised that it's her purpose to low key manipulate people into engaging with the theatre community. In her spare time Cinnamon wrangles the marketing for Playlab and takes advantage of being one of the only exec members to have website editing access.
Melissa Herburg Administrator
Melissa is a drama student, Stage Manager and massive nerd who hopes to pursue technical theatre and Stage Management in the future. Currently in her final year of a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Drama) at QUT, she is passionate about interactive, immersive theatrical experiences that walk the line between performance and experience. This year she wants to manage as many stages as she can get her hands onto, but also spread her wings as a creator and collaborative artist.
Heidi Harrison FOH And Events Coordinator
Heidi Harrison is an aspiring Brisbane artist, passionate about creating new multidisciplinary works. Currently in her third and final year of her Bachelor of Fine Arts (Drama, minor in Creative Writing), Heidi seeks to bring her passion for people into her Front of House and Events Management and hopes to use the position to learn more about the multi-facets of working for a theatre company.
Esther Dougherty Fresh Blood Coordinator
Since 2014 Esther has been working extensively as an artist and performer in Brisbane and inter-state. In early 2014 she became a member of The Suicide Ensemble and has devised and performed with the group to sell-out shows at Freshblood Festival 2014, Anywhere Festival 2015, Short and Sweet Festival 2015, Melbourne Fringe Festival 2015 and has been working with them again for Anywhere Festival 2016.
Esther has also emerged as an independent artist, as writer and director of “The Moon Men”. The production debuted at Freshblood Festival 2015 and from there the work was developed and performed at the Festival of Australian Student Theatre 2015. Esther is further developing the show for production at the Anywhere Theatre Festival 2016.
Esther is entering her third year of a Bachelor of Fine Arts at QUT.
Kelsey Taylor Publicity Officer
Kelsey is a performer and collaborative deviser of live theatrical art with a passion for public relations. Kelsey is currently studying a Bachelor of Fine Arts (drama) and aspires to further her technical production skills in her final year.
Megan Thomas Photographer
In 2015, Megan Thomas completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Drama) with minors in Film & Media and Literary Studies. Through 2016 she is continuing her studies with a Post Graduate Diploma of Secondary Education. She is passionate about arts education and encouraging learning through engagement in drama and theatre. Megan has a strong fervour for comedic theatre and community development, engagement and cohesion with a focus on theatre for, by and with young people. She has a passionate desire to support young and emerging artists and believes that Vena Cava Productions is a vital company in the development of new works in Brisbane.
Isabelle Patterson Graphics Designer
Isabelle Patterson is entering into her final year of studying a Bachelor of Creative Industries (majoring in Interactive and Visual Design) and a Bachelor of Human Services. She is interested in creating design content that engages a variety of audiences and promotes Vena Cava Production's events for the year. Isabelle is keen to develop her ability to create effective graphics and learn more about the theatre industry through working with Vena Cava Productions in 2016.
Dan Anderson Theatresports Coordinator
Dan Anderton is currently in his second year at QUT, studying a Bachelor of Laws and Creative Industries. With a deep love for Whose Line Is It Anyway (and an unhealthy obsession with Wayne Brady), he aims to provide fun and improv filled Theatresports experience for 2016. He is also a passionate rollerblader and Mario Kart enthusiast.
Maddi Potter Ambassador
Maddison potter is currently in her final year studying a Bachelor of Business (Marketing)/Creative Industries (Drama). She has a passion for theatre and hopes to be able to combine this with her interest in marketing. She is looking forward to expanding her knowledge by working with Vena Cava Productions this year.
Trent C. Werda Ambassador
Trent Werda is currently is his third year of the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Drama) in which he has unearthed a passion for directing and playwriting, as well as acting. Trent has always loved going to the theatre and enjoys everything from Opera and Ballet, to Musical Theatre and Shakespeare to new exciting fringe works.
